My name is Blake Janek. I am from Valley Mills, Texas. I graduated high school in 2014 and went onto McMurry University. In college I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to compete athletically. I ran cross country and track until injuries decided for me that I would hang up the spikes. To my surprise, my coach at the time suggested I learn to throw the javelin. This would be the piece of the puzzle that allowed me to accel in the world of track. I was fortunate enough to qualify for a national championship meet and find ample success. After college, I worked for my family construction company until I finally realized that I was meant to share my gifts rather than dig in a ditch. That led me to my first job at Abbott High School where I assisted with Cross Country, Football, and Baseball and was the Head Basketball and Track coach. As a first year coach, I had a beautiful journey and was blessed to coach the 1A 800-meter men’s State Champion and have a hand in the 1A 300-meter hurdle girls State Champion, and the 1A 800-meter girls 4th place finisher. Success is a part of athletics that I expect nothing less of achieving. I am more than excited to get going with your student-athletes and am even more excited to be an integral part in helping them find success on the course, in the classroom, and in future life endeavors.
I am a native of Georgetown, TX where I
attended Georgetown HS and competed in football, basketball, and track. I
am a graduate of Texas State University where I earned my Bachelor’s
Degree in Exercise Sports Science. I am a self professed fitness junkie
who loves working out and running in my free time. A few of my other
interests include a love to travel and spend time outdoors with my
friends and family. I even spent a few years competing in races around
the area such as the Austin Half Marathon (2), Longhorn Run 10K (2),
Dallas Y Turkey Trot (2), and the Cap10K (5 years).
My first 10 years in education I coached football, basketball, soccer, & track at Forbes MS in Georgetown. I was the head track coach at Forbes where we captured the school’s first ever District Championship. My last 3 years I have spent at Georgetown HS as a Girls Basketball Varsity Assistant, Assistant Varsity Track, and was responsible for running our Summer Strength & Conditioning program for all non-football athletes. I taught AP Human Geography & World Geography while coaching at GHS. Last year was a very successful year at Georgetown in Track & Field. All levels of the Georgetown track program, boys & girls, were crowned 2019 District Champions. I look forward to the opportunity to work with all of the students, athletes, staff, and community of Lake Travis.
