My name is Blake Janek. I am from Valley Mills, Texas. I graduated high school in 2014 and went onto McMurry University. In college I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to compete athletically. I ran cross country and track until injuries decided for me that I would hang up the spikes. To my surprise, my coach at the time suggested I learn to throw the javelin. This would be the piece of the puzzle that allowed me to accel in the world of track. I was fortunate enough to qualify for a national championship meet and find ample success. After college, I worked for my family construction company until I finally realized that I was meant to share my gifts rather than dig in a ditch. That led me to my first job at Abbott High School where I assisted with Cross Country, Football, and Baseball and was the Head Basketball and Track coach. As a first year coach, I had a beautiful journey and was blessed to coach the 1A 800-meter men’s State Champion and have a hand in the 1A 300-meter hurdle girls State Champion, and the 1A 800-meter girls 4th place finisher. Success is a part of athletics that I expect nothing less of achieving. I am more than excited to get going with your student-athletes and am even more excited to be an integral part in helping them find success on the course, in the classroom, and in future life endeavors.
